Born on March 3, 1972, in New York City, Thomas was the eldest of three children.
His parents, immigrants who valued education and hard work, instilled in him a deep commitment to learning and service to others.
This foundation led him to pursue a career in medicine, where he could combine his intellectual curiosity with his desire to make a difference in the lives of others.
Thomas graduated from Columbia University with a degree in Biology before earning his medical degree from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
After completing his residency in internal medicine, he began his practice in New York, where he quickly became known not only for his medical expertise but also for his compassionate approach to patient care.
His dedication to his patients went beyond routine medical visits; he took the time to listen, understand, and provide comfort, making every patient feel valued and cared for.
Outside of his medical practice, Dr. Shaknovsky was an avid reader and a passionate advocate for mental health awareness.

Dr. Shaknovsky is survived by his loving wife, Maria, and their two children, Daniel and Sofia, who were his pride and joy.
He was a devoted husband and father who cherished family moments, whether traveling on adventures or spending quiet evenings at home.
A memorial service to honor Dr. Shaknovsky's life and contributions will be held at Temple Emanu-El in Manhattan.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the National Alliance on Mental Illness, a cause close to his heart.
