Kristina Folkerts, a devoted mother, cherished friend, and beloved employee, tragically passed away on September 4, 2024, at the age of 34. Kristina was one of the victims of the Park Tavern patio tragedy in Minneapolis, where a vehicle veered off the road and struck the patio area, causing a heartbreaking loss.
Her sudden passing has left her family, friends, and the community in deep mourning.
Born on January 17, 1990, in Minneapolis, Kristina grew up in a loving family, the youngest of three siblings.
From an early age, she was known for her radiant smile, her generous spirit, and her ability to make everyone around her feel special.
Kristina attended South High School, where she excelled academically and was an active member of the school’s choir and drama club.
Her passion for music and performing arts was evident, and she brought joy to many through her performances.
After graduating high school, Kristina pursued a career in hospitality, where her warm personality and dedication to customer service quickly made her a valued employee. She joined the team at Park Tavern, where she worked for nearly a decade.
Her colleagues and patrons remember her as a hardworking, kind, and always cheerful individual who had a gift for making people feel welcome and appreciated.
Kristina’s work was more than just a job to her; it was an opportunity to connect with people and bring smiles to their faces.
Outside of her professional life, Kristina was a devoted mother to her three children, Emily, Jacob, and Sophie, who were the center of her world.
She was a nurturing and loving mother who dedicated herself to providing a happy and supportive home for her children.
Her weekends were often spent at soccer games, dance recitals, and family outings, creating memories that her children will cherish forever.
Kristina is survived by her children, her parents, Mark and Lisa Folkerts, her siblings, David and Sarah, and a large circle of extended family and friends who loved her dearly. Her passing has left an irreplaceable void in their lives.
A memorial service to celebrate Kristina’s life will be held at Grace Lutheran Church in Minneapolis.
In lieu of flowers, her family requests donations to be made to a fund set up for her children’s education.
