Ellie Mae Peters, a beloved daughter, sister, friend, and community member, passed away unexpectedly on September 4, 2024, at the age of 29. Her sudden passing has left a deep void in the hearts of all who knew her, and her memory will forever be cherished by those who were touched by her kindness, warmth, and vibrant spirit.
Ellie was born on March 15, 1995, in Portland, Oregon, to Thomas and Rebecca Peters.
From an early age, Ellie displayed an adventurous spirit and a love for life that was infectious. She grew up in a close-knit family, where she developed a passion for music, art, and the outdoors.
Her parents recall how Ellie would spend hours drawing and painting, and her love for creating beautiful things only grew as she got older.
Ellie attended Lincoln High School, where she was an active member of the arts community and excelled in academics.
After graduating, she pursued her passion for art at the Oregon College of Art and Craft, where she earned a degree in Fine Arts.
Ellie’s talent and creativity were evident in everything she did, from her vibrant paintings to her unique sculptures.
Her artwork was not only a reflection of her creativity but also a window into her soul, capturing the depth of her emotions and her love for life.
Outside of her artistic endeavors, Ellie was known for her kind heart and generous spirit. She volunteered at local shelters and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone in need.
Her friends describe her as someone who could light up a room with her smile and bring comfort to those around her with her empathetic nature.
Ellie is survived by her parents, Thomas and Rebecca Peters, her younger brother, Joshua, and her grandmother, Mary Peterson, who all meant the world to her.
The loss of Ellie has been felt deeply by her family and the many friends she made throughout her life.
A memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church in Portland to celebrate Ellie’s life.
In honor of Ellie’s love for art and helping others, her family requests that donations be made to the Portland Art Museum’s Youth Outreach Program in lieu of flowers.
Ellie Mae Peters’ light may have dimmed too soon, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those who loved her and in the art she created. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
