Grace Kennedy, a bright and beloved student at Canon-McMillan High School in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, tragically passed away suddenly on September 12, 2024, at the age of 17. Her untimely death has left her family, friends, and the entire Canon-McMillan community in deep mourning, grappling with the loss of a young life filled with promise and potential.

Born on April 8, 2007, in Canonsburg, Pennsylvania, Grace was the cherished daughter of Michael and Susan Kennedy and the loving sister of her younger brother, Ethan. 

From a young age, Grace was known for her compassionate nature, infectious smile, and the light she brought into every room she entered. 

Her kindness and generosity touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing her, making her a beloved figure both at school and within the community.

Grace was a junior at Canon-McMillan High School, where she excelled academically and was involved in numerous extracurricular activities. She was a dedicated student, known for her passion for learning and her commitment to excellence. 

Her teachers often praised her inquisitive mind and her ability to approach challenges with determination and creativity. 

Outside of the classroom, Grace was an active member of the school’s drama club, where she discovered her love for the performing arts and made lasting friendships.

Beyond her academic and extracurricular achievements, Grace was deeply involved in her community. She volunteered at the local animal shelter and participated in numerous charity events, always eager to give back and make a difference. 

Her friends remember her as someone who was always there to lend a helping hand or offer a kind word, no matter the situation. 

Grace had a special way of making everyone feel valued and loved, and her absence will be profoundly felt by all who knew her.

Grace is survived by her parents, Michael and Susan Kennedy, her brother, Ethan, her grandparents, Patricia and John Kennedy, and Barbara and Richard Thompson, as well as numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends. 

Her family and friends will forever cherish the memories of the joy she brought into their lives and the love she shared so freely.

A celebration of Grace’s life will be held at St. Patrick’s Church in Canonsburg, where her family invites the community to come together to remember the bright light that Grace was. 

In lieu of flowers, the Kennedy family requests that donations be made in Grace’s memory to the Canon-McMillan Drama Club or the Canonsburg Animal Shelter, both causes close to her heart.

Grace Kennedy will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her boundless kindness, and the positive impact she made in her short but meaningful life. 

Though her time with us was far too brief, the legacy of her love and compassion will live on in the hearts of all who knew her.
