Crawford Bryant, a talented young athlete and beloved member of the Columbia, Illinois community, tragically passed away on September 9, 2024, following a devastating rollover car accident in Monroe County. At just 17 years old, Crawford's life was cut short far too soon, leaving his family, friends, teammates, and community in deep grief.

Born on December 5, 2006, in Columbia, Illinois, Crawford was the cherished son of Matthew and Jennifer Bryant. 

From a young age, Crawford displayed an incredible passion for sports, particularly soccer. 

He began playing soccer at the age of four and quickly developed a reputation for his skill, dedication, and sportsmanship. 

As he grew older, his love for the game only deepened, and he became a standout player for the Columbia High School soccer team, where he was admired by coaches and teammates alike for his talent and leadership on the field.

Crawford was not just an exceptional athlete; he was also an outstanding student and a caring friend. 

He was known for his bright smile, positive attitude, and kind heart. He balanced his athletic commitments with a strong academic record, earning high grades and excelling in his studies. 

Crawford was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone in need, whether it was tutoring a classmate or volunteering in the community.

Outside of soccer and school, Crawford enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He loved outdoor activities, including hiking, fishing, and camping. 

He also had a passion for music and played the guitar in his spare time. 

Crawford’s adventurous spirit and zest for life were evident in everything he did, and he inspired those around him to live life to the fullest.

Crawford is survived by his parents, Matthew and Jennifer Bryant, his younger sister, Lily, and his grandparents, Robert and Nancy Bryant, and Thomas and Carol Harrison. His sudden and tragic passing has left a profound emptiness in the lives of all who knew him.

A celebration of Crawford’s life will be held at Columbia High School’s soccer field, a place where he spent so many happy moments. 

The Bryant family invites all who knew Crawford to join them in remembering his joyful spirit and the many ways he touched their lives. 

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Crawford Bryant Memorial Scholarship Fund, established to support future student-athletes in honor of Crawford’s passion for sports and education.

Crawford Bryant will be remembered for his exceptional talent, his warm heart, and the indelible mark he left on everyone fortunate enough to know him. 

His memory will live on in the hearts of his family, friends, teammates, and the entire Columbia community.
